- **ICBC:** Basic insurance, CA$5 million liability, collision (CA$1,000 deductible), comprehensive (CA$300 deductible / CA$200 windshield), and active RoadStar; MS and LK are listed drivers.
- **ICBC RoadStar for this rental:** up to CA$1 million rental liability; rental damage/theft with CA$300 deductible; loss of use up to CA$250. ICBC requires LK to be shown or included as a permitted driver on the rental contract; the current agreement lists MS only.
- **AmEx Cobalt / MS's card:** eligible rental theft/damage coverage has no deductible. AmEx covers secondary drivers whether or not listed; LK qualifies as a spouse/authorized driver under California law. AmEx does not cover third-party liability or injuries. The 2026 Chevrolet Traverse is below the CA$85,000 MSRP limit.
- **Liability:** AmEx provides none. RoadStar provides up to CA$1 million for the rental. ICBC's official guide also says the CA$5 million Owner's Certificate liability can transfer to a rental as excess coverage, subject to conditions; it does not replace RoadStar or remove the spouse-permitted-driver condition.
**Latest status (2026-09-20):** MS collected the Chevrolet Traverse at 13:50 PDT. The agreement lists no additional driver. See [the earlier status email](../../sources/transport/2026-09-20_SIXT_Checkin_Status.md).
**Condition recorded at pickup:** superficial scratch over 10 cm on the front driver-side door; dent up to 1 cm without paint damage on the rear passenger-side door; superficial scratch under 5 cm on the front driver-side aluminium rim.
**Return note:** The booking was kept through 2026-10-05 because the quoted price was the same. SIXT permits early returns and says the rental will be adjusted to the actual duration. Update the return time in the SIXT account before returning the car.
